RVA League for Safer Streets is a community basketball league and empowerment program in Richmond, VA created to connect former inmates with youth, young adults, and local law enforcement officers. The initiative was created in 2017 by two ex-offenders, Jawad Abdu and Paul Taylor, as a way to offer positive life lessons to at-risk youth, teach non-violence, and build unity between communities.
